Materials:
Bell ornament
Size 80 thread
Size 15/0 seed beads
3 mm metallic rounds
Tatting shuttle (2) 
0.5 mm or 0.4 mm crochet hook
Picot gauges
Twisted beading needle
Size A beading thread

Begin by placing 84 seed beads on the shuttle thread.

You will be working with beads on the core or foundation threads.  Those beads are represented by the beads under, or inside the chain arcs of the diagrams.

Round 1.  Refer to Figure 1.

1.      R.  7 – (make this picot long enough for a metallic bead) 4 – 3, cl. 
R. 4 + (join to previous ring) 4 – (make this picot long enough for a metallic bead) 4 – 4, cl. 
R. 3 + (join to previous ring) 4 – (make this picot long enough for a metallic bead) 7, cl. 

2.      Ch.  2 – 2, (1_SB)7, 3 – 2.  Make these picots very small 

3.      R. 7 + 4 – 3, cl.  Join to picot of last ring after placing a metallic bead over the picot.
R.  4 + 4 – 4 – 4, cl. 
R. 3 + 4 – 7, cl. 

4.      Ch.  2 + 2, (1_SB)7, 3 – 2.  Join to picot of previous chain. 

5.      Repeat lines 3-4 for a total of 11 trefoils and 11 chains.  

6.      R. 7 + 4 – 3, cl.  Join to the last ring of previous trefoil.
R.4 + 4 – 4 – 4, cl.
R. 3 + 4 + 7, cl.  Join to the first ring made. 

7.      Ch.  2 + 2, (1_SB)7, 3 + 2.  Join to previous chain and first chain respectively.

Round 2.  Refer to Figure 2.  Place 72 seed beads on shuttle one.  You will need two shuttles. 

1.      R.  3 – 4 + 4 – 3, cl.  Join to top ring of round one after placing a 3 mm metallic bead over the joining picot.  

2.      Ch.  (1_SB)3, 1.  Shuttle 2: R. 7 – (make this picot long enough for a metallic bead) 7, cl.  Continue chain.  (1_SB)3, 1. 

3.      Continue repeating lines 1 and 2 until you have come to the beginning ring.  End round 2.

Round 3.  Refer to Figure 3.  Two shuttles.  Place 72 seed beads on shuttle one. 

1.      R. 7 + 7, cl.  Join to one corresponding ring from previous round after placing a 3 mm metallic bead over the picot. 

2.      Ch.  (1_SB)3, 1.  Shuttle 2: R. 3 – 3 – (make this picot long enough for a metallic bead) 3 – 3  cl.  Continue chain.  (1_SB)3, 1. 

3.      R. 7 + 7, cl.  Join to the next two rings, pulling both picots through a single 3 mm metallic bead. 

4.      Ch.  (1_SB)3, 1.  Shuttle 2: R. 3 – 3 – 3 – 3 – 3, cl.  Continue chain.  (1_SB)3, 1. 

5.      Repeat lines 1-4 until you have come to the beginning ring.  End round 3.  There will now be 8 repeats.

Round 4.  Refer to Figure 4.  Place 72 seed beads on the shuttle. 

1.      R. 3 – 3 + 3 – 3, cl.  Join to ring in previous round after placing a 3mm metallic bead over the picot. 

2.      Ch.  (1_SB)3, 1 – (1_SB)3, 1.  Make the picot long enough to hold 4 SB and 1 metallic bead. 

3.      Repeat lines one and two.  End round 4 at the beginning ring.

Finishing:  Refer to Figure 5

Place 2 SB, metallic bead, 2 SB on each picot of round 4.  Take threaded beading needle and pick up each beaded picot, placing 6 SB and 7 SB alternately between each picot.  Close and tie firmly.  Place over bell ornament.
